Historical thriller from Daniel Stashower to be adapted into a miniseries

The Weinstein Co. has acquired the TV rights to bestselling nonfiction book “The Hour of Peril.”

Written by Daniel Stashower, “Hour of Peril” centers on the true story of how detective Allan Pinkerton and Kate Warne, his operative and the country’s first femme private eye, raced against the clock to detect and prevent a plot to assassinate President-elect Lincoln before he could take the oath of office.

TWC is eyeing the property for a miniseries. Brendan Deneed and Charles Spicer will exec produce on behalf of Macmillan Films.

“ ‘Daniel Stashower’s The Hour of Peril’ is an untold and landmark moment in American history, with the suspense and fervor of a crime thriller, which will make for immensely captivating television,” said Meryl Poster, prez of TV at TWC.
