FX has handed a 13-episode order to Guillermo del Toro’s “The Strain,” the net announced today. Series will bow on the cabler in July 2014.

“The Strain” is based on a vampire novel trilogy of the same name penned by del Toro and Chuck Hogan. Del Toro and Hogan co-wrote the pilot for the TV project, with del Toro also helming.

FINALLY…those teaser book trailers only wet one’s bloody whistle. I have been waiting for this kind of disturbing story to come to life using only the author’s vision. I hope they don’t screw it up all Hollywood-style.
