'The Returned' Sails Asia Following Its

The supernatural drama will be the first French series to be broadcast on True Vision Group and Hong-Kong’s Now TV

PARIS– Following its International Emmy win, “The Returned” has been snatched up across Asia, and is set to bow in Thailand, Hong Kong, Taiwan and South Korea.

Zodiak Rights has sold the haunting supernatural drama to Thailand’s True Vision Group,  Hong-Kong’s Now TV, Taiwan’s public broadcaster PTS and South Korea’s AXN.

Zodiak said the show will be the first French series to air on True Vision and NowTV.

Caroline Benjo and Jimmy Desmarais at Haut et Court produced the skein, known in France as “Les Revenants,” for pay TV giant Canal Plus.

“The Returned” has been a huge hit in France, becoming Canal Plus’ highest-rated original drama ever. In the UK, the series ranked as the country’s top rated foreign drama since 2006, attracting an average audience of 1.8 million viewers on primetime Channel 4. Skein is currently airing on USA’s high-profile Sundance Channel. Chicago-based distributor Music Box will release the series on VOD and DVD/Blu Ray in the U.S. in January.

The series has already sold in over 40 territories including HBO Latam (Latin America), SBS (Australia & New Zealand), Just Bridge (Benelux), Bell Media & Radio Canada (Canada), Studiocanal (German-speaking Europe), Viasat Broadcasting (Hungary), Hot Vision (Israel), RUV (Island), Rialto Channel (New Zealand), Channel 4 & Universal Pictures (UK), SVT (Sweden), Sinema TV (Turkey).

Set in a mysterious mountain town,”The Returned” follows a seemingly random collection of people who attempt to regain their homes and reclaim their lives without realizing that they’ve been dead for years. Their arrival coincides with a series of gruesome murders which bear resemblance to the work of a serial killer from the past.

Cast includes bigscreen talents Anne Consigny, Clotilde Hesme, Celine Sallette, Guillaume Gouix, Frederic Pierrot and Samir Guesmi.
