Things may get even spookier over at the CW, as the network eyes a reboot of 1980s horror anthology series “Tales From The Darkside.”

Project from CBS TV Studio currently has a script deal at the net, with Joe Hill — Stephen King’s son — attached as scribe. “Sleepy Hollow’s” Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci will exec produce alongside Mitch Galin, Heather Kadin and Jerry Golod.

The CW is considering the “Darkside” reinvention for a summer 2014 run as a halfhour series.

“Tales From The Darkside” was created by George A. Romero. The pilot for the skein aired in 1983, with the syndie series running from ’84-’88.

  1. As long as we are talking remakes, how about making a comedy show based on THORNE Smith’s “TOPPER” characters?
Something sophisticated and sexy like “HART TO HART” but with the added zest of a supernatural fizz like “BEWITCHED.” Maybe use the lead from “THE MENTALIST” when that long-in-tooth” show finally breathes its last.
Somebody PLEASE dust off the THORNE SMITH catalogue!! There’s a goldmine under all those cobwebs just waiting for the right cast and writers.

  2. JOE S HILL says:

Another remake,,just what WE don’t need! are they so desperate here, that they’d even remake this
80s syndicated series? but of course, since CBS TV Dist. owns the original series that Tribune Entertaiment and Worldvision Enterprises ran, that would make some sense-and with Stephen King’s
recent success with “UNDER THE DOME”,this seems to fit rather snugly,,but the remake/reboot thing has just gotten very tiresome already! and “TALES FROM THE DARKSIDE” was even released as a
movie, back in the 1990s-so i guess Stephen King and CBS are going to be “good buddies” now, since
remaking this anthology series would be something of a Goldmine-and why not, since they(CBS) also
own another anthology series,”THE TWILIGHT ZONE”,which will always be the original series(1959-64)
and not those awful remakes,or the Warner Bros. movie in 1983. so The CW may have a potentially
good idea here,,but unless it is done with the absolute kind of way-and using as many of the original
people(writers-producers,directors) they could pull this off-but it is still unlikely!
