“The Bridge,” based on a Danish/Swedish series, debuted on FX in July and centers on tensions on the U.S.-Mexico border. Kruger toplines the drama along with Demian Bichir, and Shine America produces the program.
“We’ve been blown away by the compelling performances of Demian Bichir and Diane Kruger and the writing of Meredith Stiehm, Elwood Reid and their team, and are thrilled to be able to continue this journey for another season,” said Eric Schrier, prez of original programming at FX Networks and FX Prods. “We look forward to continuing our partnership with Rich Ross, Carolyn Bernstein and everyone at Shine America.”
“The Bridge” ranks as the top new scripted cable series of the summer in adults 18-49. Show averages 3.65 million viewers, and shows an 89% spike in total viewers in Live+7.
In addition to FX renewing “The Bridge,” Fox International Channels has picked up the exclusive pay-TV rights to the forthcoming second season of the drama, following a successful pay-TV pact for season one. Deal spans 125 countries worldwide.
The season one finale of “The Bridge” airs Oct. 2.
