Not sure what the Peabody criteria are but certainly Boardwalk Empire should qualify. Of the others suggested, Downton Abbey, The Newsroom and Sons of Anarchy all deserve consideration for varying reasons.

Boardwalk Empire is a masterpiece. It is elegant, brilliant, thoughtful, artistic, luxurious and brutal. Not to take anything from previous winners, but BE leaves a number of those in the dust in terms of elevating storytelling and genre. It’s one of the best shows on television this decade, I feel.
