Sundance Channels nabs ‘Rectify’ rights

Show to air in Europe, Asia, Latin America

LONDON — Sundance Channel has taken exclusive pay TV rights to “Rectify” in several countries, as the net strengthens its scripted programming.

The rights to the series, from “Breaking Bad” producers Gran Via and AMC Networks, have been secured from ITV Studios Global Entertainment for Asia, Latin America, France, Spain, Portugal, Benelux and Central and Eastern Europe.

“Rectify” star Abigail Spencer will be at the Cable Congress in London this week, where the series will screen. The show also stars Aden Young as a man who returns home after spending nearly 20 years on death row. The hourlong drama was created and written by Ray McKinnon.

Sundance Channel also airs other AMC Networks series, including “Mad Men,” “The Walking Dead,” “Breaking Bad” and “Hell on Wheels.” – — Leo Barraclough
