Owen Wilson stars in 'The Coup'

'Law & Order' franchise alums Rene Balcer, Fred Berner also on board the project

Starz has announced that it is developing “WonderWorld,” an hourlong drama with Owen Wilson, Rene Balcer, Fred Berner and Regina Lee.

“WonderWorld” is set in the 1980s and centers on two FBI agents as they infiltrate the violent mob-controlled porn industry.

Balcer (“Law & Order”) serves as scribe and showrunner on the drama, and will exec producer alongside Wilson and Berner. Lee will produce. Project will mark one of Wilson’s first serious forays in TV. The thesp has produced feature films including “The Royal Tenenbaums” and “Rushmore.”

Wilson is represented by UTA and attorney Bob Wallerstein of Hirsch Wallerstein. Balcer is represented by UTA and attorney Don Walerstein of Rohner Walerstein. Berner is represented by Verve and attorney Jeanne Newman at Hansen, Jacobson, Teller, Hoberman, Newman, Warren, Richman, Rush & Kaller.
