Shine launches Spanish-language arm

Cristina Palacio to lead division

With its eyes set squarely on Hispanic markets, Shine America has launched a Spanish-language division and tapped Cristina Palacio to lead it.

Shine Hispanic & Latin America will focus on developing original programming for both the U.S. and Latin American markets that Shine Intl. will then distribute. Shingle will also establish new offices in Miami and Bogota, Colombia.

Palacio joins Shine after serving as prexy of BE-TV, a Colombia-based TV shingle she founded. She will report to Shine America CEO Rich Ross.

Establishment of Hispanic & Latin America division comes after Shine America developed its first Spanish-language series for MundoFox, “Minuto Para Ganar” (“Minute to Win It”).

“With Shine Hispanic & Latin America, we are looking to further develop and distribute both scripted and unscripted programming to the rapidly growing Spanish-language marketplace,” Ross said. “Cristina’s vast experience in production and distribution make her the ideal person to lead our new team.”
