‘Rookie Blue’ Renewed For a Fifth Season On ABC

Co-production with Canada's Global TV is having its most-watched summer in three years

Rookie Blue” will patrol another summer for ABC, as the network and Canadian partner Global Television jointly announced an early renewal for the cop drama on Wednesday.

The fifth season of the series will start development in the fall and will move into production in January.

“Rookie Blue” is enjoying its most-watched season since 2010, with DVR playback boosting the show well above 7 million viewers most weeks, according to Nielsen.

The “Rookie Blue” cast includes Missy Peregrym (pictured above), Andy McNally, Gregory Smith, Charlotte Sullivan and Ben Bass.

It is executive-produced by Tassie Cameron (“Flashpoint”), Ilana Frank (“The Eleventh Hour,” “Would Be Kings”), David Wellington (“The Eleventh Hour,” “Would Be Kings”), Russ Cochrane and John Morayniss (“Klondike,” “Rogue”) and produced by ICF Films and Entertainment One.
