'To Catch a Predator' host had been with the net since 1993

Chris Hansen, who rose to fame with “Dateline” seg “To Catch a Predator,” is set to part ways with NBC.

According to a report from TV Guide, Hansen’s contract with the Peacock is not being renewed. The journo has logged two decades with the net, picking up seven Emmys after joining the Peacock in 1993.

His “To Catch a Predator” series, which began running on “Dateline NBC” in 2004, brought him to national prominence as he cornered suspected pedophiles who were lured into meeting him in front of camera crews before typically being arrested.

Reruns of the “Predator” segs are featured on MSNBC, though NBC’s “Dateline” began to distance itself from the segments in 2007.

What kind of story is that?? ” Dateline began to distance itself from the segments in 2007″
What are we suppose to know the rest of the story? If your gonna write a story, write a story. If your going to send “previews” out maybe I should hit the “unsubscribe” button

    • We can assume that the suicide of one of the exposed “predators”, the controversy surrounding some of the methods used to lure in their subjects and Hansen’s own embarrassing “caught on video” moment are probably the reasons behind the distancing. I have to agree though that the article itself is vague at best.

If I was the bureau chief, I’d hire you in a second to replace the nincompoop who wrote this article in the first place.
