Overhaul expected on Fox show after double-digit ratings declines
Coming off of a season of double-digit ratings declines, “American Idol” producers are in talks with former finalist Jennifer Hudson to join the judges’ panel next year, according to a report on Vulture.
“Idol” is expected to overhaul its judging panel next year, which was criticized for lack of chemistry among Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj, Keith Urban and Randy Jackson. Jackson has already announced his departure after 12 years with the show.
Hudson was a finalist on “Idol” in 2004, the show’s third season. She went on to win a supporting actress Oscar for her role in 2006’s “Dreamgirls.”
Fox declined comment on Hudson.
