MMA personality will help develop shows for the male-skewing cabler

Spike TV has inked a multiyear partnership with MMA star Randy Couture.

Pact includes developing unscripted projects, although “MMA Rescue” and “Fight Master: Bellator MMA” have already been greenlit to air.

“We are thrilled to partner with such an emerging star in entertainment and an absolute icon in the sport of mixed martial arts,” said exec VP Sharon Levy.

“Fight Master” centers on four fight camps for 32 up-and-coming fighters vying for spots in the Bellator tournament and a $100,000 cash prize. Program will feature Couture along with Greg Jackson, Frank Shamrock and Joe Warren.

Cabler has ordered 10 hourlong episodes of “Fight Master,” with “The Amazing Race’s” Bertram van Munster and Elise Doganieri to exec produce.

“MMA Rescue” offers a new spin on the popular biz makeover genre in reality TV. Show will follow Couture as he helps turn struggling gyms into thriving enterprises.

“MMA Rescue” is exec produced by Couture along with Chris Coelen and Samuel Spira. Spike already has similar programs on its lineup, including “Bar Rescue” and the forthcoming “Tattoo Rescue.”
