Skein is based on Jean-Claude Forest comicbook

PARIS

Neal Purvis and Robert Wade, who co-wrote “Skyfall” with John Logan, are set to pen Nicolas Refn’s TV series “Barbarella.”

Exec produced by Refn, whose helming credits include “Drive,” and Martha De Laurentiis, “Barbarella” is produced and repped worldwide by Gaumont Intl. Television, which is headed by Katie O’Connell. Pay TV group Canal Plus is co-producing and will air the skein in France.

Skein is based on the French sci-fi comicbook character created by Jean-Claude Forest that inspired helmer Roger Vadim’s 1968 pic “Barbarella,” starring Jane Fonda.

Refn has yet to unveil his cast.

Purvis and Wade’s credits include James Bond movies “The World Is Not Enough,” “Casino Royale,” “Quantum of Solace” and “Die Another Day.”

Other series on Gaumont Intl. Television’s slate include Bryan Fuller’s “Hannibal,” starring Hugh Dancy and Mads Mikkelsen, and Eli Roth’s “Hemlock Grove,” starring Famke Janssen and Bill Skarsgard.
