'Ravenswood' is the network's biggest series premiere ever in women 18-34

The Halloween special episode of “Pretty Little Liars” teamed last night with the premiere of the show’s spinoff, “Ravenswood,” to give ABC Family its top-rated Tuesday on record in key demos.

As part of ABC Family’s “13 Nights of Halloween” event, the “Grave New World” episode of “Pretty Little Liars” drew the second largest score for any telecast in network history in women 18-34 (1.3 million/3.8 rating) and the series’ No. 2 telecast ever in adults 18-34 (1.5 million, 2.2 rating), according to Nielsen.

It was TV’s No. 1 show of the night in females 12-34 (4.3/14) and No. 2 (to NBC’s “The Voice”) in women 18-34. In the 8 o’clock hour, “Pretty Little Liars” tripled the delivery of CW’s “The Originals” in adults 18-34 (2.2 to 0.7), one of the reasons for the latter’s rather sharp week-to-week declines.

Compared to last year’s special, Tuesday’s “Liars” soared by 25% in adults 18-34 (1.5 million vs. 1.2 million) and 14% in total viewers (3.2 million vs. 2.8 million).

Following it at 9:02 p.m., “Ravenswood” (pictured) launched with 2.12 million viewers and became the network’s No. 1 series premiere to date in women 18-34 (789,000/2.3 rating). The last cable series to draw more women 18-34 with its premiere was MTV’s “Skins” in January 2011.

From 8 to 10 p.m., ABC Family had its best Tuesday ever in adults 18-34 (1.2 million/1.8 rating), women 18-34 (1.0 million/3.1 rating) and women 18-49 (1.3 million/2.0 rating).

Of course, “Pretty Little Liars” also continues to be the most tweeted-about series ever, according to SocialGuide. Tuesday’s episode was the sixth of the series to amass more than 1 million Tweets (1.16 million).
