Under the dome

DVR playback lifts the show up by 1 full point in 18-49 and more than 3 million total viewers

The already-strong premiere numbers for CBS drama “Under the Dome” looked even more impressive when DVR playback data came in this weekend.

Last Monday’s premiere, which averaged a 3.3 rating among adults 18-49, now stands at a 4.3 thanks to DVR playback within the first three days of its initial telecast, according to Nielsen. It also swelled in adults 25-54 from a 4.5 rating to a 5.7, and its average overall audience now stands at 16.7 million (up from the 13.5 million who watched on Monday night).

The premiere episode of “Dome” last Monday faced competition in much of the country from hockey’s Stanley Cup Finals, which saw the Chicago Blackhawks clinch the title over the Boston Bruins in the 10 o’clock ET hour.

Among all dramas to premiere on television over the past year, the 4.3 in 18-49 for “Under the Dome” is tied with Fox’s “The Following” for the highest rating in Nielsen’s Live+3 rating, and they trail only NBC’s “Revolution” (5.45).

Beginning Monday, “Under the Dome” will be one of three dramas airing in the 10 o’clock hour on the broadcasters. In addition to ABC’s “Mistresses,” which has done OK since its debut a month ago, NBC on Monday will launch its new drama “Siberia.”
