NBC ships ‘Smash’ to Saturday

Dating show 'Ready for Love' to take its place on Tuesday

NBC is shifting around some pieces on the schedule board this spring, including the demotion of “Smash” to Saturdays starting next month as part of the net’s move to an all-reality Tuesday lineup.

“Smash,” which never got off the ground ratings-wise in its second season, moves to Saturdays at 9 p.m. beginning April 6. It will, however, continue to air on Tuesdays at 10 for the next three weeks.

In its most recent airing Tuesday at 10 p.m., the Broadway-themed drama pulled a mere 0.9 rating among adults 18-49 — though that was up a tick week to week.

In place of “Smash” on Tuesday will be new dating show “Ready for Love,” which had been slated for Sunday but has instead gotten a promotion and will air after “The Voice” results show. “Ready for Love” is slated for two hours, from 9 to 11 p.m. starting April 9, meaning NBC will close the season with three hours of unscripted programming on Tuesday.

The comedies currently airing in Tuesday’s 9 o’clock hour, rookies “Go On” and “The New Normal,” will have wrapped their Tuesday runs by then, including a one-hour season finale for “The New Normal” on April 2.

NBC is giving “Go On” two more shots at finding an audience by skedding its final two episodes for Thursdays at 9:30 p.m., following “The Office,” on April 4 and 11.

The Peacock also announced that “Whitney” will wrap its second season with an hourlong finale on March 27. It’s unclear what will take its place in Wednesday’s leadoff hour. And as a result of “Ready for Love” moving off Sundays, “Celebrity Apprentice” will be expanded to two hours on the night (9-11 p.m.) beginning April 9.
