Layoffs part of plan to refocus NBC Digital as the Peacock heads into the Olympics, midseason premieres
A modest round of layoffs has hit NBC’s digital department, Variety has confirmed.
Deadline Hollywood first broke the news earlier this morning.
The number of layoffs is estimated as less than 5% of the department, though it is unclear whether any senior staffers were a part of the cuts. Rob Hayes currently leads NBC Digital.
While the layoffs follow “Million Second Quiz’s” disappointing performance (the reality show boasted an unprecedented digital component) plans for NBC Digital’s restructuring were underway before the program’s premiere.
When contacted regarding the layoffs, NBC Digital declined comment.
