Nat Geo Promotes Execs Heather Moran,

Promotions arrive on the heels of marked growth for Nat Geo with 'Doomsday Preppers' and 'Killing Lincoln'

National Geographic Channel has promoted Heather Moran to exec veep of programming and strategy, and Brad Dancer to senior vice prez of programming planning and research for Nat Geo and Nat Geo Wild. Pair will report to Howard T. Owens, prez of Nat Geo Channels.

“Since my first day at the Channel, it was clear that Heather and Brad both had their pulse on the potential of our Channel brand, and knew what we needed to do to cement our network as the leader in nonfiction entertainment,” said Owens. “With their partnership, we are poised to continue our incredible momentum.”

Moran, who has been with the cabler since 2005, will be tasked with overseeing programming, strategy and content along with development and production. The exec previously served as senior veep of global programming and strategic development. Before joining Nat Geo, Moran was vice prez of programming at Style Network.

As senior v.o of programming planning and research, Dancer will oversee distribution of Nat Geo and Nat Geo Wild content across linear and nonlinear platforms, and oversee scheduling for both cable nets. Dancer is a veteran at National Geographic Channels, having been one of the first 10 employees there in May 2000.
