Lindsay Lohan Interview Draws Soft Ratings for OWN

Oprah Lindsay Lohan Interview

Her post-rehab chat with Oprah Winfrey premieres to about 900,000 viewers Sunday night

It may have been a good weekend on the bigscreen for Oprah Winfrey with “Lee Daniels’ The Butler,” but her smallscreen chat with Lindsay Lohan didn’t resonate very well with viewers.

According to Nielsen, an average audience of 892,000 viewers tuned into the “Oprah’s Next Chapter” interview with Lohan, her first post-rehab sitdown. While certainly an improvement over the show’s average for the prior three weeks (478,000), it pales in comparison to the host’s other high-profile interviews on the network.

Counting the two repeats that aired later on Sunday, “Oprah’s Next Chapter” cumed 1.67 million viewers, according to Nielsen.

Winfrey drew a considerably larger audience — roughly 3.1 million — for the first of a two-night interview with Lance Armstrong, who admitted to taking performance-enhancing drugs while winning seven  Tour de France races.

Winfrey’s March 2012 interview with Whitney Houston’s family following the singer’s death drew a network-record 3.5 million. And last summer, an interview with singer Rihanna drew 2.4 million.

OWN has had good success of late in the scripted arena, as Tyler Perry’s “The Haves and the Have Nots” hit another high last week with 2.14 million viewers. The soap has been picked up for a second season.
