The Trip to Bountiful LIfetime Movie

Cabler will adapt recent Rialto production of Horton Foote's enduring play

Lifetime has greenlit a telepic adaptation of the Broadway production of “A Trip to Bountiful” starring Cicely Tyson, Vanessa Williams and Blair Underwood.

The Rialto rendition, which closed Oct. 9, netted a Tony Award for Tyson, among other noms. Legit helmer Michael Wilson will make his TV directing debut with the Ostar Prods. take on Horton Foote’s enduring story of a woman’s journey through the South as the Jim Crow era fades.

The 1985 feature adaptation yielded an Oscar for best actress win for star Geraldine Page.

Production on the Lifetime pic is under way in Atlanta for premiere next year. Bill Haber, Hallie Foote, Tyson and Jeff Hayes are exec producers.
