PR vet's resume includes IFTA, SpinMedia and Lippin Group

Participant Media has tapped Jennifer Garnick to lead the PR efforts for Pivot, Participant’s forthcoming cable net.

As vice prez of public relations, Garnick will be tasked with the overall communications strategy for Pivot, along with the TV program publicity, talent relations, events, awards campaigns and corporate and consumer initiatives for TakePart and TakePart Live.

Garnick will be based in Los Angeles and report to Kent Rees, exec veep of marketing, scheduling and operations.

The flack joins Pivot from the Independent Film & TV Alliance, where she served as veep of communications. She has also logged years handling publicity for SpinMedia, and began her career at The Lippin Group.

“Jennifer brings a wealth of well-rounded experience to Pivot,” said Rees. “Her passion and enthusiasm for Participant Media and its mission, and her strong background in digital and TV will be instrumental as we set our sights on connecting with this new generation audience for pivot and TakePart. Jennifer also has a keen understanding of the changing media landscape and will be able to guide and advise our senior management team as we build towards our August launch of the network and beyond.”

Pivot, a socially-conscious net targeting younger demos, is slated to launch in 40 million homes this August.
