ITV lands ‘Americans’ for U.K. viewing

FX series begins Wednesday in States

ITV has pacted with Twentieth Century Fox Distrivbution and landed the U.K. rights to FX’s new drama series “The Americans.”

Britain’s largest commercial network has made a two-year commitment to the series, which stars Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys as a pair of Russian spies living in suburban Washington, D.C., in early 1980s.

FX was promoting the series at global sales bazaar Mipcom several months ago, hoping to land several international buyers.

Series, produced by Fox Television Studios and FX Prods. and created by ex-CIA agent Joe Weisberg, launches Stateside on Wednesday.
