Ali LeRoi Takes Helm of Humanitas

'Are We There Yet' showrunner to steer org dedicated to nurturing writers

“Are We There Yet” exec producer Ali LeRoi has been elected prexy of Humanitas.

LeRoi (pictured left with Chris Rock) takes the reins of the org, which administers the Humanitas Prize and writer mentoring programs, from Tom Fontana, who served as prez for the past two years.

LeRoi has been on the board of directors since 2011 and previously served as a Humanitas trustee. He’ll work with Humanitas exec director Cathleen Young in overseeing the pilot development program, awards and other initiatives.

“I look forward to collaborating with the board and with Cathleen and her staff to expand upon what we’ve accomplished under Tom’s excellent leadership and to continue to move the organization forward in its goals of rewarding and supporting writers who create works that entertain, enlighten and inspire,” LeRoi said.

LeRoi co-created with Chris Rock the UPN comedy “Everybody Hates Chris,” and also worked on HBO’s “The Chris Rock Show,” among other TV and film projects. At present he’s exec producer and showrunner of the TBS comedy “Are We There Yet.”
