Netflix’s “House of Cards” has added another big name to its list of headline-grabbing helmers: Jodie Foster will direct one of the episodes in the popular political thriller’s second season.

Neither the network nor showrunner Beau Willimon will comment on plot details or a run date for the Kevin Spacey drama, but the news doesn’t come as much of a surprise since Foster also helmed an episode of fellow Netflix show “Orange is the New Black.” Vulture broke the news of the hire.

House of Cards” is nominated for nine Emmy Awards, including a directing nod for director-producer David Fincher. Other season one directors included Joel Schumacher and James Foley. Fincher, who is helming the film adaptation of Gillian Flynn’s novel “Gone Girl,” has stated he will not direct an episode in “House of Card’s” upcoming second season.

Foster was recently seen in front of the camera in the film “Elysium,” as a character that Variety film critic Scott Foundas describes as “a Frankenstein version of Hillary Clinton.”

  1. Everything Jodie Foster has done per work is wonderful. I don’t know her personal life and don’t need to. She’s very private and deserves her privacy yet as a fan of her art, I’ve never been disappointed and believe she is the best actor in film history. She can do it all from direct, produce, act and you name it. That is hard work, experience and a high IQ to do what she does and a love of the arts.
