Basile, Herman, Stonestreet join production team

Louis J. Horvitz will direct the broadcast of the Primetime Emmys for the 17th time, as part of a production team that will also include Renato Basile, Danette Herman and Brian Stonestreet.

Exec producer Ken Ehrlich and the TV Academy announced that Basile will be producer and Herman co-producer for the Sept. 22 kudocast, to be broadcast from Los Angeles’ Nokia Theater on CBS with Neil Patrick Harris (also a producer) hosting. Stonestreet will serve as scenic designer.

“With such an exciting year in television to celebrate, I’m thrilled to have an equally exciting and wonderfully creative production team working with me on this year’s show,” Ehrlich said.  “The Emmys are always one of television’s most looked forward to events, and I have no doubt that with this group of talented individuals we can create a great evening of television.”

In addition to the Emmys, Horvitz has also directed the Oscars telecast a record 12 times and the Kennedy Center honors 20. He has been nominated for 14 Emmys himself, winning six.

Five-time Emmy producer Basile is returning for the first time in five telecasts. Herman has spent 24 years on the Emmy production team and was co-producer last year as well, in addition to serving as coordinating producer on this year’s Oscars.

Stonestreet is a three-time Emmy Award-winning production designer, having worked in live and televised events for more than 20 years.
