Holly Hines joins Participant network

Former Fremantle exec tapped senior VP of scripted

Participant Media continues to structure the exec ranks for its forthcoming cable net, adding Holly Hines as senior veepee of scripted programming.

Hines joins Participant from FremantleMedia North America, where she served as vice president of scripted development. In her post at the yet-to-be-named Participant net, Hines will be based in Los Angeles and oversee all scripted development and production. She’ll report to Participant TV prexy Evan Shapiro.

“Holly is a talented programmer with a keen eye for talent and a great understanding of the millennial audience,” said Shapiro. “Her deep relationships in the creative community and her passion for our mission make her the perfect addition to the Participant Television team.”

Participant Media forged a TV division last spring, tapping Shapiro to spearhead the company’s smallscreen efforts. In December, Participant bought the Documentary Channel and Halogen TV, announcing that it’ll bring a millennial-focused network to the some 40 million viewers reached by the now-defunct cablers. Programming will be a mix of acquisitions and original fare with a socially-conscious edge.

“I am excited to build upon the brand that Participant Media has created and look forward to continuing their legacy of inspiring social change with scripted programming in the television landscape,” Hines stated. “Evan has put together an amazing group of executives and I’m thrilled to be a part of the team.”
