Mark Burnett, Roma Downey and History Channel fired back at social media users Monday morning who postulated that the actor who portrays Satan in miniseries “The Bible” looks like President Obama, calling the claims “utter nonsense.”
Conservative media personality Glenn Beck helped launch some of the Internet speculation, tweeting out last night a photo of Mehdi Ouzaani, the thesp cast as Satan:

The tweet quickly accumulated over 600 retweets and hundreds of favorites. By this morning, “Satan” and “ObamaSatan” were trending on Twitter, with numerous media outlets covering the physical similarities between the President and the “Bible” character.
History Channel issued a statement Monday morning: “History channel has the highest respect for President Obama. The series was produced with an international and diverse cast of respected actors. It’s unfortunate that anyone made this false connection. History’s ‘The Bible’ is meant to enlighten people on its rich stories and deep history.”
Burnett, who exec produces the mini with wife Downey, stated: “This is utter nonsense. The actor who played Satan, Mehdi Ouzaani, is a highly acclaimed Moroccan actor. He has previously played parts in several Biblical epics– including Satanic characters long before Barack Obama was elected as our President.”
Downey also weighed in: “Both Mark and I have nothing but respect and love our President, who is a fellow Christian. False statements such as these are just designed as a foolish distraction to try and discredit the beauty of the story of The Bible.”
Beck later backtracked on his initial tweet, clarifying it as a merely “funny” observation.

Glenn Beck is great, i would agree with Roma, Satan is no Obama. Satan is not wasting money on vacations while people are getting laid off. Satan has a reason for being evil, obama is just evil! I disagree that white people are insecure. i do agree that liberals are filled with hate and vitriol. They will do anything to create controversy. A reality check. Democrats and leftists make horrible comments about conservatives every day. They Mock Black men like Clarence Thomas. They Mock an intelligent, successful , beautiful woman like Sarah Palin. Hollywood depict Christians as crazy murderers and conservatives as mean and stupid. I am an award winning director early in my days in the business. The people around me were so liberal and hateful. it made me see the truth about the left. People like Michael Savage, Rush Limbaugh, Reagan, Oreilly, Glenn Beck , etc are individuals who believe in people. People being all they can be. I left NYC because of all the favoritism and union corruption in the business. I would never move back to NYC. The Bible tv series is getting good ratings, beating the pants off weirdos like nicki minaj and her ilk of Idol…. Funny how so many can care so much about whether or not an actor portraying satan looks like Obama. But, not care about a dead ICE Agent, Benghazi or the soldiers killed under the Obama administration in Afghanistan…..
It is amazing how insecure and shallow white people are. Jesus who’s real name was Yeshua was Black/Hebrew and the Devil known as Satan was given dominion over the earth for a season. What race rules the earth? In that answer you will find the true description. I have peace in the fact that no matter how many lies and film that lie are made, in death the truth is what counts. It is better to live and accept a hard truth and inherit eternal life than live a vain lie and go to hell.
