Series marks Lindelof's first foray into cable after years as showrunner of ABC's 'Lost'

HBO has added Damon Lindelof’s “The Leftovers” to its slate of series.

The pay cabler ordered nine episodes of the hourlong drama in addition to the pilot from Adventure Corps. in association with Warner Bros. TV. Lindelof will serve as showrunner and wrote the pilot alongside Tom Perrotta.

“The Leftovers,” based on Perrotta’s novel of the same name, centers on life after the Rapture and the people who didn’t make the cut. Pilot cast includes Justin Theroux, Amy Brenneman and Liv Tyler. Peter Berg is on board to helm the pilot.

Lindelof and Perrotta are exec producing “The Leftovers” alongside Berg, Sarah Aubrey, Ron Yerxa and Albert Berger.

Lindelof’s recent credits include feature films “World War Z,” “Prometheus” and “Star Trek Into Darkness.”
