James Toback directed the Cannes-centric pic

HBO has acquired U.S. and Canadian television rights to James Toback’s Cannes-themed feature docu “Seduced and Abandoned,” which preems at the fest this year.

Michael Mailer, Alec Baldwin and Toback produced the pic. Morris Levy, Alan Helene, Larry Herbert and Neal Schneider exec produced.

Shot during last year’s fest, the film features portraits of filmmakers including Bernardo Bertolucci, Francis Ford Coppola, Roman Polanski and Martin Scorsese, as well as thesps such as Diane Kruger, Ryan Gosling and James Caan.

“When James and Alec set out to make this documentary, it took a different turn,” Lombardo said in the acquisition announcement on Monday. “What resulted is something uniquely special and wonderfully entertaining.”

Jeff Berg’s newly minted Resolution negotiated the deal on behalf of the filmmakers. Hanway is handling international sales.

Toback’s most recent credits include 2008 docu “Tyson.” Multihyphenate has also written and directed pics including “Fingers” starring Harvey Keitel and the Adrian Grenier-toplined “Harvard Man.”
