‘Happy Endings’ pair pact with NBCU

Bycel, Fener wil produce comedy pilot 'Assistance'

“Happy Endings” vets Josh Bycel and Jonathan Fener have inked a two-year overall deal with NBCUniversal’s Universal Television.

The pair will serve as exec producers on NBC comedy pilot “Assistance” (starring Krysten Ritter) while also developing projects for the studio.

Bycel was most recently an exec producer on ABC’s “Happy Endings,” where Fener has served as co-exec producer. Bycel has also been a showrunner on “Scrubs” and co-exec producer on “Psych.” Both Bycel and Fener were co-exec producers on “American Dad.”

“We’ve been longtime fans of Bycel and Fener and are happy to have them as part of the Universal TV family,” said Universal TV exec veep Bela Bajaria. “They are both strong showrunners and developers, individually, as well as a team.”

The pair is represented by UTA.
