‘Glee’ Renewed for Two More Seasons

'Glee' Renewed Two More Seasons

Series extended through 2015

Fox has extended musical dramedy “Glee” for two seasons, extending the series through at least 2015.

“Glee,” which wraps its fourth season May 9, had a 2.2 rating and 6 share among viewers 18-49 in its most recent airing Thursday and averaged 6.2 million viewers overall. The show has dipped from its previous season but has strong DVR viewership and has survived the transition of many of its characters out of its initial high school setting.

“ ‘Glee’ debuted as the first and only successful musical comedy series on television, and more than four years later, it continues to defy genres, break new ground and have a significant impact on popular culture,” said Fox entertainment chairman Kevin Reilly.

Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk, Ian Brennan and Dante DiLoreto exec produce “Glee.”

“Ryan, Brad, Ian and Dante have created something that is far larger than a television show; it’s a global entertainment brand which continues to touch millions around the world,” said Twentieth Century Fox Television chairmen Dana Walden and Gary Newman.  “We are enormously proud to be the studio behind it.”

The show continues to attract high-profile guests, including Sarah Jessica Parker, who will guest in next week’s episode.
