Model and reality show personality Gia Allemand died Wednesday in New Orleans one day after an apparent suicide, her publicist confirmed today.

The model-actress, who appeared in the 14th season of ABC’s “The Bachelor” and the first season of the show’s spinoff “Bachelor Pad,” was found unconscious by her basketball player boyfriend, New Orleans Pelicans power forward Ryan Anderson, in her home on Tuesday. Allemand was taken to the city’s University Hospital.

TMZ reported late Wednesday that Allemand had hanged herself.

“Due to a critical loss of brain and organ function, life support was withdrawn today,” the statement added. “Ms. Allemand passed away peacefully with her mother, boyfriend, and other life-long friends by her side. As a practicing Christian, Gia did receive the sacrament of last rites.”

Jake Pavelka, the “Bachelor” from Allemand’s season tweeted after he heard the news of her death.

“I had to pull over, I can’t stop crying. We have lost an angel,” he said.

Mike Fleiss, the creator and executive producer for both “The Bachelor” and “Bachelor Pad,” echoed these sentiments, saying in a statement that “the entire ‘Bachelor’ family is tremendously saddened by the tragic passing of our friend, Gia. She was truly a sweet and generous soul. This is a devastating loss for anyone who ever knew her.”

Allemand is survived by her mother.

First,CBS’s “BIG BROTHER” got in some Hot Water with some of its participants, who used “Homophobic’
and “Racial” slurs-now with ABC’s “THE BATCHELOR”,we have a young girl, who comitted Suicide!
is it me,or are all these “reality shows” really getting way out of hand? all this, because of what,,,?
does anybody see any relevence,on why these stupid shows are even on our airwaves? these
network people will likely (and politely) give their heart felt condolences-and move on along, not really
giving one single damn about why the young girl took her own life, she’s another statistic, nothing new
here, back to business!-do we need to cater to fluff like this,as viewers?

It’s because she died after her suicide attempt Yirmin. What did she do to herself in trying to commit suicide is what I’d like to know. It’s said that most people who try, don’t really want to die.

It’s very sad anyway, to young to throw her life away and now leaves her mother left to bear the pain.
