Second season of 13 episodes ordered
FX has renewed original drama “The Americans” for a second season of 13 episodes.
Starring Keri Russell, Matthew Rhys and Noah Emmerich, “The Americans” earned its renewal after airing only four of its first 13 episodes. For its first three episodes, the drama is averaging 3.6 million viewers in L3 ratings.
” ‘The Americans’ has quickly established itself as a key part FX’s acclaimed drama lineup,” said the cabler’s prexy and g.m., John Landgraf. “We are confident that its quality will continue to yield a robust and passionate audience.”
Joe Weisberg created the show and exec produces with Joel Fields and Graham Yost, along with Amblin Television’s Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey, who shepherded the original idea for the show about Soviet spies living undercover in 1980s Washington, Fox Television Studios and FX Prods. The drama’s season-one finale will air May 1.
