Second season of 13 episodes ordered

FX has renewed original drama “The Americans” for a second season of 13 episodes.

Starring Keri Russell, Matthew Rhys and Noah Emmerich, “The Americans” earned its renewal after airing only four of its first 13 episodes. For its first three episodes, the drama is averaging 3.6 million viewers in L3 ratings.

” ‘The Americans’ has quickly established itself as a key part FX’s acclaimed drama lineup,” said the cabler’s prexy and g.m., John Landgraf. “We are confident that its quality will continue to yield a robust and passionate audience.”

Joe Weisberg created the show and exec produces with Joel Fields and Graham Yost for Fox Television Studios and FX Prods, and with Justin Falvey and Darryl Frank at Amblin TV. The show’s season-one finale will air May 1.
