FremantleMedia taps Desai as COO/CFO

Exec was formerly COO at Hit Entertainment


International TV distribution-production company FremantleMedia has tapped Sangeeta Desai as chief operating officer and chief financial officer.

She will be responsible for the management of operations at its headquarters in London, including financial performance, legal and business affairs, IT, purchasing and procurement, and property. She will report to CEO Cecile Frot-Coutaz, and will sit on the board of directors.

Desai was formerly COO at tyke specialist Hit Entertainment, whose properties include “Thomas and Friends,” “Pingu” and “Bob the Builder.” Desai ankled Hit following its acquisition by Mattel last year.

At Hit, she managed day-to-day operations, including biz development and global brand management, and had global responsibility for revenue functions, including TV, brands, consumer products, DVD and live events and attractions.

FremantleMedia, which is part of RTL Group, operates in 22 countries, and creates more than 9,200 hours of programming a year. It produces “Idols,” which it co-produces with 19 Prods. in the U.S., “Got Talent,” co-produced with Syco in the U.K. and the U.S., “The X Factor,” co-produced with Syco in the U.K., “Family Feud” and “The Price Is Right.”
