Katz to write, Shepard would direct

Fox has acquired 20th Century Television drama project “Trial of the Century,” with penalty, from exec producers Evan Katz, Howard Gordon, Richard Shepard, Bryan Furst and Sean Furst.

“Trial” is a serialized legal thriller from the point of view of a young Latina attorney working on a high-profile case.

Katz, who is working with Gordon (“Homeland”) on Fox miniseries “24: Live Another Day,”  is scripting, while Shepard will direct if the project from Teakwood Lane and Ole (in association with Twentieth) goes to pilot. Shepard’s recent helmer credits include “Girls” and Jude Law starrer “Dom Hemingway,” which Shepard also wrote.
