FremantleMedia’s Kids & Family Entertainment arm has inked a five-year pact with BBC Children’s to create programming for tykes.Pact calls for BBC Children’s and FME’s Kids & Family Entertainment division to co-develop and co-produce content for U.K. kids net CBBC and its preschool-focused CBeebies. Duo has already teamed for Cbeebies series “Tree Fu Tom,” which was the highest rated new skein on Cbeebies last year. “We’re delighted to be signing this new deal with FremantleMedia Enterprises and look forward to building on the success we’ve already had working together on top-rated programmes such as ‘Tree Fu Tom.’” said BBC Children’s director Joe Godwin. “This groundbreaking partnership will allow us to create and develop even more exciting new shows that will entertain and inspire kids throughout the UK.” FME will rep global ancillary rights within the deal, including merchandise, home entertainment, live events and publishing that stem from the pact. Partnership with FME does not affect BBC Children’s existing first-look deal with BBC Worldwide.
