After four consecutive wins, what’s left to say backstage?
The “Modern Family” gang was excited but humble backstage in commenting on the show’s fourth consecutive win for best comedy series. The streak ties a record held by NBC’s “Frasier” for consecutive wins for a show in its first four seasons. (Pressure’s on for next year!)
When told that “Modern Family” had now reached the level of Emmy wins for such shows as “Frasier,” “Cheers” and “The Dick Van Dyke Show,” co-creator/ exec producer Steven Levitan couldn’t resist sharing a smallscreen memory of his own.
“I grew up watching ‘The Dick Van Dyke Show’ on WGN in Chicago,” he said. “Those reruns were the reason I wanted to become a comedy writer. I wanted to go sit in that office with Buddy and Sally. To be even mentioned alongside those shows — it’s miind-blowing and extremely humbling for all of us.”
