‘Ellen’ Show Gets Highest Ratings in Series History

Although she’s prepping to host the 2014 Oscars, Ellen DeGeneres is not slacking on her day job: Her eponymous talkshow recently earned its highest total viewer ratings since the show’s 2003 debut.

The syndicated daytime show averaged 4.4 mil viewers for week of December 9, when guests included Jake Gyllenhaal, Lea Michele and Tom Hanks. It was also in the middle of the show’s 12 Days of Giveaways special that featured surprise gifts for the audience.

A week after the ratings blitz, DeGeneres debuted her first Oscar promo trailer: A video conceived and directed by Paul Feig that showed her and a crew of backup dancers prancing through the Warner Bros. backlot to Fitz and the Tantrums’ “The Walker.” The Oscars air March 2 on ABC.
