Non-profit GLSEN works with schools to ensure student safety

Kevin Brockman, head of Disney/ABC Television Group communications, has been elected board chairman of the non-profit LGBT advocacy org GLSEN.

The New York-based Gay, Lesbian & Straight Education Network works with schools to ensure the safety of LGBT students. Brockman has been active with the org for nearly 20 years and a board member for the past six years.

“His leadership, enthusiasm and drive make him not only perfectly suited for this responsibility, but also the best possible partner as we further the efficacy and reach of our important efforts,” said Eliza Byard, GLSEN’s exec director.

“I’ve had the great pleasure to hear directly from many of the incredible students that they’ve helped over the years, and when you are faced with that kind of courage, and that kind of compassion, it’s easy to agree to become a bigger part of the process,” Brockman said.
