Simon Andreae Emerges as Top Contender for Fox Reality Job (EXCLUSIVE)

Simon Andreae, Discovery Channel’s former senior VP of production and development on the West Coast, has emerged as a top contender to fill the vacancy in Fox’s alternative programming department.

Andreae recently set up Brit shingle Scarlet Media, with Sony Pictures TV holding a majority stake in the production company.

The Fox network has been looking for a new reality chief for the past four months, ever since Mike Darnell ended his nearly 20-year tenure with the net and moved across town to Warner Bros. TV.

Fox has met with a slew of execs and producers in the hunt for Darnell’s successor. Andreae has been on the lot for multiple meetings in recent weeks as Fox narrows down the list of candidates.

Sources emphasized that there is no deal in place with Andreae, a British exec who worked at Channel Four and as a producer before joining Discovery Communications in 2010.

Fox declined comment.

After Darnell’s departure was announced in May, Fox recruited News Corp. vet David Hill to oversee production of “American Idol” and “The X Factor” in order to give the net more time to find a replacement.
