Discovery, Ridley Scott Set Scripted Mini About 13th Century Scotland

Project hails from Ridley Scott's Scott Free Prods.

Discovery Channel has teamed with Ridley Scott’s Scott Free Prods. once again on a scripted miniseries, this time based on Scotland in the late 1200s.

Based on historical books by Nigel Tranter including “The Wallace” and “The Bruce Trilogy,” mini will focus on Scottish patriots William Wallace and Robert Bruce after King Edward I of England invaded Scotland and imposed English rule.

David W. Zucker will exec produce “Untitled William Walace and Robert the Bruce Project” alongside Scott.

Scott Free Prods. is also the shingle behind Discovery’s first run at a scripted mini, “Klondike.” Based on Charlotte Gray’s novel “Gold Diggers: Striking It Rich in the Klondike,” program began lensing in Canada this spring, and Discovery is eying a 2014 debut for the miniseries.
