Discovery Exec Nancy Daniels Named General Manager of TLC

Former g.m. Amy Winter to remain with TLC's marketing team

Nancy Daniels has been tapped general manager of TLC, the network announced today. Appointment follows Amy Winter stepping down from the post last month.

Daniels will be based in TLC’s Los Angeles office and report to Eileen O’Neill, group president of Discovery and TLC Networks.

Daniels steps into the general manager role after serving as exec vice prez of production and development at TLC’s sister net Discovery Channel. At TLC, Daniels will oversee programming, production, development, new media and marketing for the femme-skewing cabler.

“Nancy is a talented creative executive, a motivating team leader, and a risk-taking problem solver, with a track record of success that makes her a perfect fit to lead the TLC brand forward,” said O’Neill. “Her previous success at TLC, combined with her leadership roles at both Discovery Channel and Discovery Fit & Health, gives her the ability to jump right in and continue TLC’s growth and pop culture domination.”

Daniels’ new role at TLC marks a reunion with the net. Before her work as a development exec at Discovery, Daniels was senior vice president of production and development at TLC, overseeing the launch of series including “Cake Boss,” “The Little Couple” and “Sister Wives.” She has been with Discovery Communications since 2007.

I looked forward to watching Who Do You Think You Are with Jim Parsons on Tue. Sept 10. The program was completely ruined for me because two pop up regarding the Honey Boo Boo show on the screen for the entire program (they where not there during any of the commercials). I have no interest in this Honey Boo Boo, have never watched the show and resent TLC adding and keeping these pop ups on the screen during the Jim Parsons show.
