David Shuster Al Jazeera America

David Shuster will join Al Jazeera America as one of the channel’s New York anchors, it was announced today.

The new channel launches on August 20.

Shuster previously worked at MSNBC and most recently at Current TV, where he led the channel’s coverage of 2012 presidential primaries, conventions, debates and election.

“From breaking news to in depth reports, David has exactly the kind of experience we want to bring to all of our broadcasts,” said Marcy McGinnis, Al Jazeera America’s senior vice-president, newsgathering. “David will be an integral member of our New York reporting team when we launch later this month.”

“I’ve followed Al Jazeera since I covered the Iraq War in 2003 from Doha,” said Shuster. “The organization’s fearless efforts to give a voice to the voiceless have always struck a chord in me. It’s an honor to help carry on that unique mission on an American channel and for an American audience.”

Wow really? Going to comment on a news organization that has won awards for its reporting and that’s all you got? Wow…I’m really impressed. But you should save it for Fox News, the harbinger of ignorance.

      • G. Jardoness says:

Arnold, I’m sorry you were so obviously confused. My Muslim wife and I already watch Al Jazeera. You are absolutely right about the quality of its coverage, which is noteworthy, and no more self-serving than any other organization. It’s called humor. And there’s no need to get offended, either on behalf of Al Jazeera — ‘or’ The United States of America.
