Nine years since the improv comedy series ended its run on ABC, “Whose Line Is it Anyway?” is being rebooted on the CW.
Net has ordered 10 halfhour episodes of “Whose Line,” slating it for a summer debut. Aisha Tyler will host the latest iteration of the program, which will feature the return of Ryan Stiles, Wayne Brady and Colin Mochrie.
Program is based on the U.K. format that birthed a Stateside version on the Alphabet in 1998. Drew Carey hosted the show, which ran for eight seasons. Reruns subsequently aired on ABC Family.
Word leaked of the “Whose Line?” reboot when Colin Mochrie tweeted out the news this morning:
Oh, by the way, Whose Line is coming back. More details later.—

CW sees gameshows like “Whose Line” and “Oh Sit!” as solid, affordable skeins to keep the net fresh when it comes to original programming during the summer, instead of defaulting to reruns and imports.
“Whose Line?” is from Angst Prods. and Hat Trick Prods. Dan Patterson, Mark Leveson and Jimmy Mulville are exec producing with Stiles and Brady.
