'Tomorrow People' from Berlanti and 'Vampire Diaries' scribe Julie Plec

The CW has picked up two drama pilots, including one from “The Vampire Diaries” scribe and exec producer Julie Plec.

Based on the original U.K. series, “The Tomorrow People” follows young adults from around the world who represent the next stage in human evolution. They possess special powers, including the ability to teleport and communicate telepathically.

Phil Klemmer penned the pilot and will exec produce alongside Plec and Greg Berlanti through Berlanti Prods. and FremantleMedia in association with Warner Bros. TV. Melissa Kellner Berman will co-exec produce.

“Blink” centers on a man who is left in a coma-like state after a car accident. While he can’t speak or move, he can still hear and see, leading to him narrating and providing context to conflicts within his family and his own situation.

Pilot is written by newbie scribe Vera Herbert, who served as a writers’ assistant on MTV’s “Awkward.”

Sarah Timberman and Carl Beverly serve as exec producers through Timberman-Beverly Prods. and CBS TV Studios. David Marshall Grant will also exec produce.
