Creative Arts Emmys: FXX Will Televise

Emmy rule change restores movie/miniseries split

Cabler signs three-year deal

FXX has signed a three-year deal with the TV Academy to televise the Creative Arts Emmy Awards, with this year’s edition taped on Sept. 15 for a Sept. 21 airdate.

“It’s not often enough in our business that the spotlight shines on the creative community working on camera and behind-the-scenes of our best and brightest television shows,” FX Networks program strategy prexy and COO Chuck Saftler said.

Spike Jones, Jr. will produce the kudos for the 19th time, the first for FXX. He will work with the Creative Arts Awards show committee, including chair Eileen Horta and vice chair Mark Watters.

“The Creative Arts Awards and Spike Jones, Jr. have become somewhat synonymous and we couldn’t be happier to have him back,” said Alan Perris, consultant to TV Academy chairman Bruce Rosenblum.  “We also are very excited to be working with the new FXX Network.”

FXX goes live Sept. 2 after converting from Fox Soccer Channel.
