'Friends with Better Lives' creator sets two-year overall deal with studio

Comedy scribe Dana Klein has struck a two-year overall deal with 20th Century Fox TV.

Pact calls for her to develop new projects for the studio. She’s currently shepherding a midseason laffer for CBS, “Friends with Better Lives,” that she created and is exec producing, also through 20th TV.

“She’s everything we look for in a comedy creator — she’s wildly funny, she writes really grounded characters, she draws from her and her friends’ life experiences to make characters feel authentic,” said 20th TV chairman Gary Newman in announcing the deal.

Klein has developed comedy pilots for 20th TV for the past two years. Her previous credits include NBC’s “Friends” and “Kath and Kim” and the WB Network’s “Twins.”

She’s repped by UTA and attorney Jamie Mandelbaum at Jackoway Tyerman.
