Exec to spearhead communications as company preps for 'transformative 2014'

Former CNN corporate communications chief Christa Robinson has joined Tribune Co. as chief communications officer, based in Gotham.

Tribune CEO Peter Liguori cited Robinson’s experience in media and government affairs as Tribune gears up for what CEO Peter Liguori called a “transformative 2014.”

The company is preparing the spinoff of its newspaper holdings into a separate company, and it has doubled the size of its TV station holdings with the recent acquisition of the Local TV station group.

Longtime Tribune Co. corporate relations exec Gary Weitman will continue in his role based in Chicago.

Robinson worked for CNN from 1999 to this year. Before that she served in the Clinton administration as director of communications for the Domestic Policy Council.
